Rare 1974 Ducati 239 Mark 3
This bike came in along with a Velocette from a chap who was giving up riding clsssic motorcycles
He had bought this Ducati for his wife back in 1984 so he has owned it 42 years
It has not been used for some time & has just been stored in his garage along with his Velocette
I have fitted a new battery cleaned the fuel tank & carburettor & changed the engine oil
It is now up & running everything is working lights clutch gears & charging system
It may however need some further recommissioning before returning to the road
These small capcity Ducati's are quite a rare bike & not that many come up for sale
The Ducati 239 Mark 3 is a 239 cc single cylinder bevel drive SOHC motorcycle produced by Ducati in limited quantities for the French market in 1974. The French Government has announced that they were to increase VAT on motorcycles of 240 cc and above in 1975. Ducati responded by producing the 239 to take advantage of the lower 20% VAT rate on sub-240 machines. To compensate for the reduced capacity, the engine was tuned to produce more power with a different camshaft, slipper piston, 30 mm carburettor and a different exhaust
The factory ceased production of OHC singles in 1974. The remaining stocks were purchased by the then British importer Coburn & Hughes, including some 239s, who continued to sell them until early 1976.

In overall nice condition some chrome is flaking on the headlamp & there are age related marks here & there as you would expect on a 52 year old motorcycle but genrally a lovely little lightweight Ducati
